We have mixed together two Mexican celebrations for this event, Cinco de Mayo and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla and Dia de los Muertos is to remember friends, family and others who have passed away. Both of these are now widely celebrated in other countries and cultures so why not go for a run to celebrate for yourself?! As this is a Solo event, you must run/walk your chosen distance in a single activity anytime, anywhere, during May, 2020.
Our design for Cinco de Mayo (with Dia de los Muertos) is a typically colourful skull with the addition of a fancy sombrero and maraca. This funky medal also has a bottle opener between its teeth to crack open a cold one during the summer months! *We are not promoting drinking alcoholic beverages - Drink safe*
Any donations for this event will be going to The Running Charity. This is a fantastic charity that helps homeless 16-25 year olds in London and Manchester get on their feet (literally). We all know that running helps with mental health so this is a great help for those less fortunate to build mental, social and other life skills to build a better future for themselves.
For Cinco de Mayo, we will be giving away 5 lucky draw Prize Boxes of RFTW goodies worth £25. All runners who complete their chosen distance will be entered into the draw. In addition to these, the top three on the donations leaderboard will also earn themselves a Prize Box.
