World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th June. It is becoming more and more essential that we focus our attention to the cleaning up and looking after of the natural world. The past weeks, since many countries have been in lockdown from the COVID-19 virus, we have seen dramatic, positive changes around the world in air pollution, wildlife returning and general nature. To celebrate the natural world that we live in, you can choose a distance of either 5km, 10km or 21.1km to run/walk in a single activity during the month of June.
The medal for this event is a shiny and colourful depiction of a beautiful rainforest. A monkey swinging through the trees and a blue macaw relaxing on a branch, finished with a small waterfall and river in the centre of the design.
Any donations for this event will be going to The Running Charity. This is a fantastic charity that helps homeless 16-25 year olds in London and Manchester get on their feet (literally). We all know that running helps with mental health so this is a great help for those less fortunate to build mental, social and other life skills to build a better future for themselves.
For the Environment Day virtual run, we will be giving away 5 lucky draw Prize Boxes of RFTW goodies worth £25. All runners who complete their chosen distance will be entered into the draw. In addition to these, the top three on the donations leaderboard will also earn themselves a Prize Box.
